Recap of Close the Glass Loop Annual Workshop 2025 in Madrid co-hosted by Ecovidrio
Over two days in July, friends and partners from across Europe gathered in-person to exchange ideas, explore innovative solutions, and help accelerate progress toward the goal of 90% glass collection for recycling by 2030.
Two days of honest conversations, practical ideas, and real collaboration. The ClosetheGlassLoop Workshop in Madrid brought together over 40 people who all care about the same thing: making glass collection and recycling work better, in every corner of Europe. ♻️
Here are some highlights from two days of collaboration:
🔹 From closed-loop systems to citizen communications, participants rolled up their sleeves to co-develop actionable ideas tailored to local and national challenges. The group exercises encouraged knowledge sharing, creative thinking and laid the groundwork for cross-border projects that can make a difference on the ground.
🔹 Case studies from across Europe showed how much we can learn from one another, whether it’s experimenting with digital tools, scaling local successes, or introducing new systems. They reminded us that real change happens at the local level, and if we want to achieve our CGL goals, continuous improvement on the ground is essential.
🔹 Close the Glass Loop is backed by strong support across the entire glass packaging value chain. This in-person workshop in Madrid was the first of many face-to-face meetings and collaborations to come.
