The episode will address the role of Deposit Return Systems in glass recycling. Although deposit systems are usually associated with reuse systems, they are increasingly being rolled out to collect single-use packaging such as PET and cans. In some case, one-way glass packaging is also included in deposit return systems for recycling. The goal of this episode is to assess the pro’s and con’s of including glass packaging in a deposit return system for recycling, and the broader impact of a deposit return system for glass recycling on the overall glass packaging recycling rates.
