Towards a Close the Glass Loop Action Plan for Albania | in-person event

Close the Glass Loop, the European action platform for glass packaging collection & recycling, and Green Recycling, an Albanian recycling and circular economy company, are partnering to launch a national platform for glass collection & recycling in Albania. This workshop will bring together European and Albanian stakeholders across the glass packaging value chain to exchange perspectives, share best practices, and discuss possible pathways for improving glass packaging collection and recycling in Albania.

In particular, the workshop will aim to:

• Present the European perspective on glass packaging circularity and the objectives of Close the Glass Loop initiative
• Assess the current status of glass packaging waste management in Albania
• Explore the development of a National Action Plan for glass packaging collection and recycling
• Highlight the importance of establishing an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system for glass packaging, which would help increase collection rates and improve recycling infrastructure.

By becoming a national platform of Close the Glass Loop, stakeholders in Albania will gain access to the network of national platforms and European partners, joining the leading community of practice in glass collection & recycling.
