In Italy, renowned for its bustling culinary scene and vibrant hospitality sector, the collection of glass from HORECA establishments is a significant focus. With a multitude of bars, restaurants, and cafes, Italy sees a substantial volume of glass packaging used within these venues. The country has implemented extensive collection systems, often in collaboration with waste management companies and local authorities, to efficiently gather glass waste from these establishments. These initiatives aim to streamline recycling processes and minimize the environmental impact of glass disposal within Italy’s thriving HORECA market.

In number of establishments, Italy has the biggest hospitality sector in Europe and the 4th highest density of HORECA establishments relative to population.
